People counters play a vital role in any industry, based on application & requirements. The people counter module is used either as an integral part of the turnstile or can be integrated when needed. The main purpose of the people counters is to count the number of people passing through a particular turnstile, number of people leaving & number of people left inside the area. In many cases the specific option of people counters is to restrict the entry of a specific number of people in a particular zone. The presence of such counters in the turnstiles integrated with the main board helps in providing the footfall data to the main server using various communication techniques from serial mode of communication to network mode. The main objectives of using people counter modules in standard and optical turnstiles are as mentioned below
People counting & occupancy monitoring
The number of people entering and leaving the premises is much needed in various business units to ensure proper customer services without overcrowding the sites. In the previous past we used the token management system for various customer service departments but crowd management becomes a tough job in such cases as in general token issuance is not restricted nor the tokens can be used to restrict the entries. The retail stores need accurate counts of the number of people on their premises to how many people are in each area per each floor of the entire building. The people count and occupancy is the key to keep areas safe & secure with proper customer services. The turnstiles in such areas with people counters are associated with displays that show the exact date of people in particular space.
By enabling the people restriction feature in the system, it ensures that the entry is limited to particular pre-programed number of people and this number is proportional to number of people leaving the site using exit turnstile, this way the number of people occupying the zone is restricted, hence provides a great deal of crowd management as well as enables to implement the safety programs.
The sites involving people counting and restriction mechanisms do not need the manned services as all are automatic and managed using digital mechanisms.
The major application areas for the people counters are bars & casinos, libraries & schools, casinos & clubs, supermarkets & shopping malls, sporting venues & trains & buses etc
