The Wiegand is the general communication protocol widely used in access controls to connect the device with device e.g. Reader with Access Control Panel as the data signals are communicated between the devices.
It has become the defacto protocol for communication & most of the readers are with this protocol to make communication easy and universal. In general, the standard 26-bit format is an open format.
The Hex Code for Wiegand 26 is H10301 and is the binary encoded data.
Hex Code :10301
Binary Code :0001 0000 0011 0000 0001
WIEGAND 26 STRUCTURE
Parity 2
Facility Code 8
Card Number Fields 16
PARITY CONFIGURATION
1 Even parity over bits 2 to 13
2 ~ 9 Facilities code (0 to 255), bit 2 is MSB
10 ~ 25 ID Number (0 to 65,535), bit 10 is MSB
26 Odd parity over bits 14 to 25
As indicated in the graphic display are the timing patterns for data bits sent by the reader to the access control panel. This pattern complies with guild-lines laid by SIA Security Industry Association for the Access Control Standard Protocol for the 26-Bit Wiegand Reader Interface
Pulse Width (Seconds) 20 µ ~ 100 µ
Pulse Interval (Seconds) 200 µ ~ 20 m
Till the reader is ready to send data, Data 1 & Data 0 are above the Voh logic high level. Reader places data as async below Vol level, logical low. The Data 0 & Data 1 pulses do not occur simultaneously nor do overlap.
